GODPARENTS DAY

The First Sunday of each June is "Godparents Day". In asking God's Church for Faith for the newly baptized, Godparents freely take on responsibility to help their godchild on the road of Christian Life; yet, the majority of Godparents fail to have any significant communication concerning spritual matters with their God children. "Godparents Day" is a wonderful way for a Parish to gently remind and encourage Godparents to communicate with their God children and for God Children to communicate with their Godparents concerning spiritual matters.

Sample Church Bulletin Announcement:

Next Sunday is "GODPARENTS DAY". Every Godparent should make a special effort to contact their God children about spiritual matters. God children should also contact their Godparents. Sometime this week, encourage your God children to frequent the sacraments, give them a rosary, scapular, or some spiritual reading like "Holiness - A guide for Beginners". At our godchild's baptism, we asked the Church for faith for our godchild and pledged to help our godchild adhere to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
